“If the student of knowledge doesn’t beautify himself with good manners then there is no benefit of seeking knowledge.”
— Sh. Ibn Uthaymeen, Shrah Hilyah Taalib ul ‘Ilm (pg. 07)
📌 Beware of Pseudo-Intellectuals ⛔️
Beware of pseudo-intellectuals who deem their opinions more sophisticated and more important than those established in the Qur’an and Sunnah and extracted by our classical and contemporary scholars.
A qualification must be coupled with sincerity and correct understanding. Acquiring a PhD from any university, no matter how prestigious it is, doesn’t mean that you have the right to be haughty, feel your opinions are significant, nor should one put themselves on a pedestal. Rather, attaining knowledge should make one more humble and less arrogant.
Shaikh Bakr Abu Zayd رحمه الله wrote: “It was said knowledge is three spans: Whosoever enters the first span will become arrogant, and whosoever enters the second span will become humble, and whosoever enters the third span will know that he knows nothing”. [Hilyat Talib-ul-Ilm, pg.41].📚
